Apple Spatial Audio, 360 degrees, Dolby Atmos, or Immersive mixing is the newest technology to emerge onto the music scene. Of course, this technology has been in movie theaters for more than a decade. However, it is now reaching the audio world. It consists of several speakers around the listener, an LFE (low-frequency enhancement) subwoofer channel, and several speakers above the listener’s head.

The numbering system is 9.1.4 - a three-numbering system with periods in between. The first number represents the number of speakers around the listener. We are used to hearing 5.1 or 7.1 when referring to surround sound. The second number represents the subwoofer. The difference is that Atmos refers to it as the LFE. The reason for the distinction is that you can have multiple subwoofers in Atmos. Therefore, the .1 is not the number of subwoofers as it is in surround sound. The last number is the number of speakers above the listener.

Starsound Studios is offering this mixing service. We have built a 9.1.4 Dolby Atmos mixing studio, which is the only Dolby certified mixing studio in the state of Ohio. Imagine your music all around you. An engineer puts a particular music element in any of the abovementioned speakers. Placing these elements in any speaker is the power of Atmos. We can mix any of your previous songs in Atmos. The power comes in writing a piece of music with Atmos in mind and using the new space only available through its platform.
