Studio A Packs A Big Analog Punch!

Studio A - Professional Commercial Recording

Our Control Room in Studio A is a professional commercial recording and listening room. Our entire studio has been designed and treated by Haverstick Designs. Haverstick Designs is continuing to work with us for the best sound possible. It has proper corrective acoustic treatment. Treatment in control room A ensures the best listening room possible. The key is for the professionals at Haverstick Designs to analyze the situation:

  1. It determines where to put acoustic treatment.

  2. Repeat the acoustic measurement to see how the room changed.

  3. It makes sure that the place performs as it should.

Studio A is passing with flying colors and is performing better than the experts ever expected. As a result, the room now enables our equipment to sound its best. Never resting on our laurels, we remeasured the room after we passed the initial design test with the Trinnov ST-2 Pro. The hope is to garnish pro results every time. We do.

Studio A has multiple absorbers, and they absorb sound. In addition, it has bass traps located in the corners. Bass sound builds up in the corners, and the traps try and eliminate it. The room also has diffusion. Diffusion panels do just that. A diffusor's design is to scatter sound when audio strikes it. Those treatments are on both the walls and ceiling.

We have a ten-inch insulation barrier above the ceiling tiles. Starsound Studios Studio A is a ten-by-eleven-foot room. The ceiling height is 7'6". The fact that these dimensions are not divisible along with the treatment and Trinnov is critical to the sound. The room also has two mix-position chairs. These creature comforts provide our clients and us plenty of space to relax. The Spacious room outside the control room also allows the luxury to bring in your extra equipment to record if necessary.

The newest addition to making our control room the best listening environment possible is the Trinnov ST-2 Pro. It measures the space and computes the time, phase, and EQ correction. This measurement is in addition to the acoustic design and treatment mentioned above. The computer then makes all the corrections. Of course, no room can be perfect. However, the result you hear from the speakers gives our engineers the most transparent sound possible, and our clients benefit.

Live Room

Starsound Studios has a 12-foot by 12-foot live room. It has been treated with acoustic curtains in the same manner as the drum room. It offers high-end guitar amplifiers and cabinet combinations. Marshall and Mesa Boogie matching amplifier and cabinet combinations are available; the live room also has four high-end keyboard options. Achieve a perfect piano sound with the Roland RD 800. The ideal analog sound comes from two of our boards, the Prophet 12 and the Moog Sub Phatty.

Last but not least is our Hammond SK 1. They are the organ Gurus. We also provide a seven-piece PDP drum set and Sabian AAX Studio cymbals. The snare is a USA Gretch Custom. It is triple mic’d, top, bottom, and the wood in between. Our secondary snare drum, the Sonar AQ2, can achieve three different sizes (12, 10, and 8 inches) with a mechanical lever—a perfect complement.

One of the unique features we have is the Dynamount. It allows us to automatically move the microphone on the cabinet in real time as a guitarist plays the instrument. What does that mean? We can dial in your exact tone with a button on our app. That button press moves the microphone via wifi in a separate recording room. So you can now decide what your guitar sounds like on your record in real-time. How cool is that? EQ the guitar sound before recording a note by moving the microphone across the speaker.
